Spiritual Guidance

One of our main goals at CAST will be to encourage amputees not only to accept their loss of limb, but to learn to turn their “weaknesses” into their “strengths”. Much like Jesus made himself known to Thomas by his scars (John 20), we also will be known by our scars. Through Jesus Christ, what many may consider our weakness will actually become known to many as our strength. (see 2 Corinthians 12:9-10) It is only when our loss becomes an excuse to abandon our pursuit of the abundant life that Christ has promised us, that our afflictions will be seen as our weakness. But by continuing to serve our Lord, ordinary people such as ourselves, can become extraordinary witnesses.

Matthew 5:14-16 says that, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Combine this scripture with 2 Corinthians 11:30 and 2 Corinthians 12:9 and you should have all the motivation that you need to let your light shine through your “weakness” so that all who are near may be enlightened by the “strength” that Christ has so gracefully bestowed upon you.
